The Field Rules — Adventure Consent & Risk Acknowledgement

The adventures. Scouts Club adventures take place in real outdoor environments — trails, bushland, beaches, parks, rocks, water and uneven natural terrain. Every adventure includes small-group supervision, transport in the Pansi's Paws vehicle (dogs appropriately secured), and a GPS tracker on every Scout for the whole trip.

Inherent outdoor risks. Outdoor adventures naturally carry risks that cannot be completely eliminated: scratches, small cuts, grazes, insect bites or stings, ticks, grass seeds, slippery or uneven surfaces, rocks, branches, falls, water and other natural or environmental hazards. Pansi's Paws will take reasonable safety precautions and supervise dogs carefully, and remains responsible for taking reasonable care and following appropriate safety procedures.

The tracker. Every Scout wears a GPS tracker during adventures as an additional safety layer. A tracker is an extra measure and cannot guarantee that a dog will never become lost or separated.

Owner disclosure. You'll tell us about any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, medications, behavioural concerns, poor recall, reactivity, mobility issues or anything else that could affect your dog's safety or the safety of the group. Honesty here keeps everyone safer.

Right to modify. Pansi's Paws may change the location or activity, keep a dog on leash, stop a dog's participation, or return them home if conditions or the dog's behaviour make continuing unsafe.

Vet care & expenses. If your dog becomes injured or unwell and needs veterinary attention, Pansi's Paws may take them to a vet or emergency hospital and authorise urgent treatment if you can't be reached. You are responsible for reasonable veterinary expenses associated with illness, pre-existing conditions, or the ordinary risks of participating in outdoor adventures, subject to applicable Australian law.

Cancellations. 48 hours' notice: full credit. 24–48 hours: $20 admin fee, waived if we fill the spot. Same-day: the adventure is forfeited unless there's a genuinely good reason. Weather cancellations from our side are always full credit.

Photos. We take a lot of them. By joining you're happy for your Scout to appear on our website and social channels. Ask and we'll leave your dog out — no hard feelings.

Common questions

Before you enrol.

What's the bandana deal?

Every enrolled Scout gets a Neck of the Woods bandana — soft green gingham with a sage stitched hem and honey paw crest. The bandana arrives empty. After each adventure, Andressa hands you a new collectible patch to take home and add to your Scout's growing collection.

How long will my dog actually be away?

Every dog gets the same time out — about three hours, door to door. That part never changes, and it's the bit that matters.

How long they're away from home does change, because we collect four dogs in a loop and bring them back the same way. If you're the first pickup you're also the last drop-off, so your dog might be away around two and a half to three hours. If you're the last pickup you're the first home again, and it can be as little as an hour and a half. Same walk either way — just a different amount of time in the van.

We'll tell you which end of the run you're on when we confirm your spot, and give you a drop-off window rather than a single time. And we do rotate the order so the same dog isn't always the long one.

What if I live outside your pickup area?

You're still very welcome. We run door-to-door collection across the Inner West — roughly five kilometres around Annandale, which covers Leichhardt, Rozelle, Balmain, Glebe, Petersham, Stanmore, Newtown, Enmore, Erskineville, St Peters, Camperdown, Haberfield and Marrickville. A little further out we can usually still come to you for $20 extra. The postcode box on the form will tell you which applies to you, and if you're further afield than that, get in touch anyway — we may be able to work something out.

Is pickup and drop-off really included?

Yes. Transport in the Pansi's Paws vehicle is part of every membership — dogs are appropriately secured for the drive. On the morning trip the first pickup is 7:30 AM and dogs are home between 10:30 and 11; the afternoon trip starts at 1:30 PM and runs to a matching schedule. No optional add-on fee for it. How long your dog is actually away depends where you sit on the run — see below.

What if my dog fails the recall test?

They still get to be a Scout — just on-lead. Off-leash trust is built over time, not gated at the door. Once you're comfortable with recall training we retest and unlock more trail options.

What happens in bad weather or 30°C+ heat?

We cancel or swap to a shorter cool-shaded walk. Weather cancellations are always full credit — you're never charged for a day we call off. Nov–Feb we start at 6:30 AM to stay under the heat.

What days do adventures actually run?

Mondays and Fridays, with two trips a day — a morning trip with the first pickup at 7:30 AM and dogs home between 10:30 and 11, and an afternoon trip starting at 1:30 PM. Each takes four dogs, and every dog gets about three hours out, door to door. Tell us which suits your routine. If neither day works, get in touch — we may add days as demand grows.
